Powder Brows, Lip Blush and Tiny Tattoos Now Available!
PMU stands for Permanent Makeup, which is a cosmetic procedure that involves the application of pigments into the skin to enhance certain facial features, similar to traditional makeup. It is also known as micropigmentation or cosmetic tattooing. The goal of permanent makeup is to create long-lasting enhancements that resemble makeup, such as eyeliner, eyebrow shaping and filling, lip color, and even beauty marks.
The procedure is performed using a handheld device (tattoo pen) that contains a needle or a group of needles, which deposit the pigments into the skin's dermal layer. The process is generally less invasive than traditional tattooing and may involve various techniques, such as shading for eyebrows, lips and eyeliner.
PMU is particularly popular among individuals who have busy lifestyles and would like to simplify their beauty routine. They may have been a victim of overplucking their brows, or may want to add some colour and definition to their lips. Clients may have specific medical conditions that affect their ability to apply makeup daily, such as alopecia, vision impairment, or cosmetic allergies. It can also be used for reconstructive purposes, such as creating a more natural-looking areola after breast reconstruction.
Although the term "permanent" is used, the results may fade over time due to natural skin regeneration and exposure to environmental factors like sunlight. Therefore, touch-ups or color refreshments are often necessary to maintain the desired appearance.
Currently powder brows and lip blushing are offered in my studio. Powder brows are a soft, powdery looking technique that mimics soft brow pencil. It can provide definition to the brow shape, fill in gaps and correct some asymmetry.
Lip blush is a technique where pigment is deposited into the lip to create a range of colours as the client desires. It can help define soft lip line, and give the illusion of fuller lips without overlining.
